The San Francisco General Hospital Foundation (SFGHF) is an independent not-for-profit corporation 501(c)(3) that provides fund-raising support to San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center.

As the charitable support organization for SFGH, the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation is dedicated to raising private support to improve patient care. By raising private support to augment public funding, the SFGHF is a model for successful public-private partnerships.

The funds raised by the Foundation underwrites continued investment in an array of SFGH services and facilities allowing it to continue its long history of addressing the health care needs of San Francisco.

The San Francisco General Hospital Foundation is a legally separate entity from the hospital, and has its own board of directors.

SFGH Foundation is the proud recipient of a $100,000 grant from Salesforce.com Foundation's 2007 "Force for Change" Award


"You Can Make a Difference Award"

Judith Luce, MD, Director of Oncology Services at SFGH, was recently presented with the "You Can Make a Difference Award" from the Susan G. Komen Foundation for her outstanding public and clinical service on behalf of marginalized women. This award recognizes her contributions to advancing the care and treatment of women with breast cancer. Dr. Luce is the co-Principal Investigator of breast cancer programs funded by the Avon Foundation at SFGH.

2007 Heroes & Hearts Grant Recipients

San Francisco General Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2007 Heroes & Hearts grants, totaling $53,500 in program funding. These grants were donor-driven and not subject to an application process.

  • Mobile Mammography Van (MammoVan) was awarded $9,000
  • Cancer Awareness, Resources, and Education Program (CARE) was awarded $4,500
  • Acute Care for Elders (ACE Unit) was awarded $40,000
