John Belingheri:

John Belingheri is a Bay Area artist who has exhibited extensively in the United States and abroad. His work is included in both public and private collections throughout the world. He received his MFA and BFA from Brigham Young University in 1981 and 1976 respectively.
Belingheri's work proposes a sense of contemplation that invites participation and interpretation and probes the mutability of form. His earthy hues seem to be coaxed to the surface, while his forms evolve through duplication. This propagation creates odd and uneven movement and certain shapes appear to pulse, spin and hover in front of one another. Belingheri is interested in a surface that looks found-not made by his hand, but something found in nature that is impermanent and open to change. His paintings at once seduce the viewer with their visceral physicality, while astounding us with their ability to reveal a three dimensional space. The shapes are often simple and in a random pattern, changing as they duplicate.
John Belingheri is represented by the Andrea Schwartz Gallery in San Francisco.
