Michael Dee Cookinham:

When I was 12, a neighbor, AD Klein, gave me painting lessons and I was hooked. My father, Dr. Franklin Cookinhamm had a large art library and I was fascinated by the images. How could a human being makes this magic? When I was 22 in Paris, I realized that being an artist was possible. Contact with Harold Paris, Eduardo Paolozzi, Alberto Giacometti showed me how incredibly interesting art is. I taught at the De Young Museum Art School for 15 years which was guided by Elsa Cameron. I then created my own school, "MICA" and that continues to this day. I had a well received show at the Braunstein Quay Gallery in 1990. I like to work every day.
