Leo Germano:

I was born in San Francisco. Drawing has been my preoccupation since I can remember. I got my first taste of art in high school, but my formal art training started with College of San Mateo for the basics and ending with a BFA from the Chouinard School of the California Institute of the Arts in Design.

My first professional experience was as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malaysia in 1966-68, enjoying a wide range of design projects- book layout & production, exhibit design and magazine editing and production, as a sideline to teaching duties in a middle school.

Since then, I have been a draftsman, graphics specialist for architects, and department supervisor for engineering graphics. My skills as a designer, illustrator and artist have been in constant use. I am currently a partner in Ewing & Germano, designing and working on the production of commissioned paintings for business and residential clients.

My current personal projects are widely divergent . . . One, the traditional: I work on several series of whimsical drawings using pen & ink and graphite pencil; and I am developing a collection of rubbings and hand colored prints of Utility Covers from my travels using graphite and colored pencils. On the other hand, I am intrigued by the computer and digital photography, which allow me to see, collect and manipulate images in a way previously not open to me. I enjoy traveling and collecting images. I enjoy presenting and teaching subjects close to my heart.
