Poppy Mussallem:

I am a fifth generation Californian, born in San Francisco, and am named after our state flower, the "California Poppy." When I was about one year old, my family moved to a ranch at the very southern end of the Santa Cruz Mountains in Gilroy, CA. I have grown up both in the city of San Francisco and the countryside of California. As a child I was always creative and had a love for the outdoors and the history of this beautiful state. Through my 32 years of living here I have begun to blossom as a full time artist. My current contemporary fine art series includes:

Western Series: Inspired by the rustic, yet sophisticated surroundings in which I have grown up. Some of the pieces in the western series include variations of the glass arrows, the horse, multifaceted Dear and lots of flowers.

Earthquake Series: I have always been intrigued by the earthquakes I have witnessed and those that I have heard about historically. My Earthquakes series is abstract and unpredictable and reflects the chaos of the earthquakes beautifully.

Ocean Series: The ocean has always fascinated me; we have a most unique coastline in California and down into Baja. Some of the pieces included in this series are the hanging fish sculpture, the green turtles, blue turtles, Madeline's Buddy, What's in Your Head and the boat dish.

PoppyART produces a range of artistic products from glass pictures to sculpture as well as decorative hardware and other functional accessories. Many designs use a combination of glass and metal, allowing them to be used both indoors and outdoors. Current retailers include Bauerware, SF, www.hardwarehut.com, and WoodTech. PoppyART will be debuting its patent pending glass hanging devices this year at the Glass Art Society's Annual Conference in New Orleans. For more information please see www.hangyourglass.com.
