Giving Life to the Community

Artists

David Stroud:

David Stroud is a photographer and painter who has worked in the Bay Area for 15 years. He studied locally at San Francisco City College and San Francisco State University. His works have been exhibited regionally. His photography explores subtlety of color and intimate perception in subjects of ordinary household objects and generalized figures in public places. His work in oil and watercolor deals with the local landscape and with psychological possibilities of figures at rest.

"The form of the Hearts in San Francisco's interlocking steel heart suggested to me a look at the strategies of classical vase paintings. While the heart can symbolize courage and passion, it can also evoke gentler capacity for feeling and intimate personal relationships. I have presented figurative forms in mind of this theme."
