My work in visual art began in New York City in the early 1960's as a result of my association with Bread & Puppet Theatre. Participating as a masked dancer, and work with puppets, led me to engage in my own mask and puppet making. (I had traveled in Europe and lived in Greece for a year prior to the time in New York .)
I moved to the west coast in the mid sixties and expanded my art making with sculpture and stone carving, as well as studying batik and fabric arts, print making and mixed media - participating in numerous group shows and special exhibits.
A trip to Mexico and Guatemala inspired me to further mask making.
I worked as an artist-in-residence at Norcal-Sanitary Fill's program for art from recycled materials, for a six month period during the rainy winter of '97-'98.
For twenty years I have maintained my studio at "The Point" (Hinters Point Shipyard) and participate in the Open Studios event each year.
My work is strongly influenced by the folk-art of a variety of cultures around the world.
