Jose Arenas

Jose Arenas' paintings combine a developed personal iconography with found and collected imagery from everyday environment. His "visual landscapes" merge decorative and symbolic elements that are appropriated and refashioned into new visual possibilities. Much of Jose's work plays on themes of dislocation and disorientation that are both narrative and symbolic in nature.

Jose Arenas received a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1995 and an MFA from UC Davis in 2000. Presently an Associate professor at Foothill College in Los Altos California, Arenas teaches Painting, Drawing, and 2 and 3 Dimensional Design. Recent exhibitions include: Here and There, Hang Art, San Francisco; Little Boxes, Exploding Head, Sacramento.
